Rules and Roommates (Practice AP Essay)

I've been waiting to stay in a 5X5 dorm room for years, yearning to sleep on the tiny bunk beds that nearly touch the cieling, and dreaming of the limited closet space for my many wardrobe choices. This all may sound like sarcasm but going to stay in a dorm room is all part of the college experience. Not being able to stay in a dorm room my freshmen year would be heartbreaking because I would be missing out on so many opportunities living in a dorm has to offer. Of course part of the experience is based on your roommate.

Hopefully when I go to college my roommate and I will hit it off right from the star, both with a passion for college sports or fashion. We all know thats not always the way it goes, but I guess that is another college experience I hope to avoid.

My roommate might want to know a few things about me before we become best buds. Number one, I'm no neat freak but when my room gets to the point where I can't remember the last time I saw the carpet, it's time to clean up. Walking into a clena room is just relaxing and less stressful. Number two, I have to say as far as I know I'm a quiet sleeper. No snoring, sleep walking, or bed thrashing. I have had a few sleep talking encounters but nothing extreme like I'm spilling secrets out of my mouth. Number three, I'm very outgoing and social. You want to invite some friends over? No problem let them drop in! I love meeting new people, and when you go to school on a large campus the more people you meet the better.

Normally I'm very lenient on rules but I do have some rules on the kinds of things you do with your friends. If you're a smoker, take it outside. Smoking is a nasty habit and I don't need my clothes smelling like cigarettes durring class. If you're a drinker, please don't make me have to carry you to bed every night, take it in responsibly. These situations may seem extreme but something I won't tolerate. I have strong morals and like to stick to them. Otherwise if you need someone to  talk to I'm a good listner and even better at giving advice. Need someone to come with you to the football game, I'm there! I'm up for watching or playing any sport that is going on at the time. Need help studying, me to! I could always use a hand when it comes to memoizing lists or equations. for the next big exam.

I come from a big family so I'm very easy going, friendly and helpful. I will be understanding and open minded about anything you come to me with. most importantly if something is bothering you that I'm doing, please just tell me! I'm not a yeller and i don't like confrontation so just sit me down tell me what's up and I will work on it. Look out future classmates of 2010 because I may be living with you in your next dorm room.

  1. Hannah, I loved reading you roommate information. I wouldn't mind rooming with you in college. Your personality shows through you writing so much and makes is much more personal. I feel like you are actually talking to me. Overall, well done =)

  2. Hannah, great writing! I loved your introduction and your voice showed through your writing very well. I thought you did a really nice job of telling people who you are and anyone reading this should now know that they would be very lucky to have you as a roomate in college!
